Oakvale Wildlife Park are seeking a passionate and dynamic casual Animal Keeper to be a part of the team. If you possess a deep commitment to caring for wildlife, outstanding communication skills, and positive attitude, Oakvale wants to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold high standards of animal welfare and maintain husbandry routines
  • Conduct health checks during assigned rounds, promptly reporting and recording any observed changes
  • Maintain accurate animal records and contribute to procedure and policy development
  • Perform daily educational presentations and talks
  • Adhere to Workplace Health and Safety policies, supporting the development of related documentation.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and engage positively with visitors and work colleagues

Essential Qualities:

  • Professional demeanour and an ability to thrive under pressure
  • Ability to contribute to a healthy workplace culture
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and effective communication with visitors of all ages
  • Ability and willingness to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Prepared for physical demands, including walking, carrying, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, squatting, sitting, standing, twisting, and repetitious movement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Cert II in Animal Care or currently studying
  • Classification C driver’s license.
  • Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Prepared for physical demands, including walking, carrying, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, squatting, sitting, standing, twisting, and repetitious movement.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment medical.
