🎉 Exciting News! 🎉
Oakvale Wildlife Park's 'Save Our Wildlife Program' has proudly donated $500 to the Hobart Rivulet Platypus Conservation Platycam Project!
The Platycam Project involves 24/7 monitoring of Hobart Rivulet's platypus population using a network of 4G and offline cameras to rapidly identify threats, assist entangled platypuses, flag potential dangers, and collect data for research, enhancing our understanding and protection of these unique creatures.
This donation was made possible thanks to our amazing guests who generously contributed to our Save our Wildlife program when purchasing tickets online or at the park through our Save Our Wildlife Donation boxes.

🌟 Fun Fact Friday! 🌟Did you know that platypuses are excellent at regulating their body temperature?
Platypus body temperature is lower than humans but remains constant even in near-freezing water.
Their fur is more efficient than polar bear fur, trapping a layer of air for insulation.
They have a dynamic metabolism that balances energy intake and expenditure.
They possess a ‘miraculous network’ that warms blood returning from extremities using blood leaving the core.
