Join us at Oakvale Wildlife Park as a Guest Services Volunteer and become an integral part of our mission to inspire passion for wildlife conservation.

Whether you're a resident, a nature enthusiast, or simply eager to contribute to a meaningful cause, this program welcomes all individuals. As a guest experience volunteer, you'll have the opportunity to engage with visitors, interact with our dedicated staff, and connect with the fascinating world of animals.

If you have a heart for guest services, a love for animals, and a desire to positively impact our environment, we invite you to join our passionate team of volunteers. Together, let's create unforgettable experiences and foster a deeper appreciation for the wonders of nature.

Engage in a diverse range of tasks, including:

  • Providing Information: Helping guests navigate the park and highlighting scheduled talks, animal encounters, and daily events.
  • Wayfinding: Guiding visitors to attractions and facilities, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable visit.
  • Guest Interactions: Collaborating with park staff to manage queues, assist in keeper talks, and enhance guest safety during presentations. Educating guests on our diverse array of animals, their habitats, and the importance of conservation efforts while empowering visitors to adopt sustainable practices that support wildlife conservation.

Requirements

Each volunteer must:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Have included a medical certificate from your local GP confirming you are fit to work independently in a mentally and physically demanding environment
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Capable of performing physical tasks without supervision
  • Have clear communication skills with the ability to liaise with the guests within the park
  • Dress appropriately, including sturdy enclosed footwear
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Participate in duties that may involve unpleasant odours and/or getting dirty
  • Pay a $50 non-refundable deposit in exchange for an Oakvale volunteer shirt
  • Commit to one day per week on the same day each week from 9.00am to 2.30pm
  • Undergo a 4-week trial period in which your suitability for the program will be assessed

Application Form

Please note: Based on Oakvale’s duty of care, Management reserves the right to terminate a volunteer's placement without warning if the person's behaviour, attitude, or appearance does not comply with the company's policies or expectations. There are a limited number of positions available, a waiting list will be utilised as vacancies arise. Please do not choose this program if you are currently studying an animal related certificate. There is no guarantee of paid employment at Oakvale Wildlife Park or within the zoological industry as a result of being involved in our volunteer program. Successful applicants will also be required to read, understand and agree to various policies relating to Code of Conduct, Safe Work Practices, etc.
