Oakvale Wildlife Park Re-Opening!!

1st June 2020

To our valued customers, business stakeholders and suppliers,

To begin, can I just say an enormous THANK YOU to our amazing community of supporters. Over the last two months, we have received so many calls and messages of support and well wishes for health, safety and a speedy and successful reopening.

We are so excited to announce our reopening date of Monday 1st June 2020.

We also would like to make a special shout out to our amazing Oakvale Team. So many of whom have worked tirelessly these last two months not only to keep the park functioning and a safe place for our staff and animals but to have made such enormous improvements and upgrades to the overall facility. They have all been so willing to be flexible with an everchanging landscape and so many offers of help and support. I get emotional when I consider how supportive each of the Team has been. We have such an amazing team and are so excited for the future.

Our wonderful Cafe Team have done a wonderful job with making preparations for our re-opening and cannot wait to welcome all our wonderful customers back. Our Admin Team have been brainstorming, creating new animal signs, keeping on top of the 100’s of changes, social media blasts and filming some of the exciting new changes and arrivals that have been happening. And of course our Animal Care Team, who have been undertaking lots of major animal movements and “thinking outside the box” scenarios, major earthworks, lots of enclosure improvements and obviously caring for the health and welfare of our beautiful animals.

Well done everyone!! It’s been a challenging and tiring time for all of us. But we can see a light at the end of the tunnel with re-opening now in sight.

Re-opening Date

We will be able to open on Monday the 1st June 2020 to customers. We are also looking to welcome our volunteer team back from Monday the 25th May to enable them to be familiar with the new operations and processes.

Covid-19 Plans & Policies

Obviously we will not be opening to the same Oakvale as what we closed. Our whole world it seems has changed in the last 3 months and as such certain changes will need to be implemented to respond to those changes.

We will have documented policies and procedures implemented prior to opening, with an outline of some of these below.

Hygiene & Health

Regular and thorough handwashing with soap and water or use of an alcohol-based hand gel is very important. Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with a tissue or into your elbow. Exercise physical distancing wherever possible. All these things will help to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Symptomatic

Now is not the time to be a hero. If you are exhibiting signs such as a cough, fever, sore/scratchy throat or shortness of breath please do not come to work. It is important that we follow our health experts advice and it is an expectation that if you are experiencing these symptoms that you seek medical advice from a healthcare professional. If in the unlikely event that you do test positive, you will be required to notify your supervisor so further measures can be implemented at work.

Cleaning/Sanitising & Daily Operations

New and improved cleaning and sanitising practices will be implemented throughout the park and heightened in high traffic areas such as the café and amenities. We will be considering the management of both the gatherings of customers and traffic flow prior to opening. Entry/Exit signs, directional and physical distancing markers will be erected throughout the park to reduce bottlenecks and clusters of people unnecessarily.

We encourage everyone to continue to support your local businesses over the coming period. We encourage you to support the community by purchasing goods to be delivered to your door and/or online purchases for local businesses, because every time you support a small local business, you are supporting a local family. If you would like to support our business during this time, we will still have gift vouchers available for purchase for any birthday’s, anniversaries or just because.

Please visit our website for further information as it becomes available.

If you have any questions, concerns or want to check-in, please stay in contact via social media, email or phone.

Please stay safe, and continue to follow health authority guidelines, take care of each other and your community.

Kind regards,

Kent, Leanne and the Oakvale Team
