GOLD WIN FOR OAKVALE WILDIFE PARK AT DESTINATION SYDNEY SURROUNDS NORTH TOURISM AWARDS FOR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Celebrations today as Oakvale Wildlife Park was awarded GOLD.

Oakvale Wildlife Park proudly accepted the Gold Award for Tourist Attractions today at the first Destination Sydney Surrounds North Tourism awards held at Noah’s on the Beach, Newcastle

This is the first time the Regional Awards for Destination Sydney Surrounds North have been conducted under the Destination NSW framework. The DSSN zone encompasses 13 local government areas being: Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Cessnock, Dungog, Hawkesbury, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Penrith, Port Stephens, Singleton and Upper Hunter. In 2017 the DSSN region attracted $4.07 billion in tourism expenditure – a growth of 4.2% average growth over the past ten years

The Regional Tourism Awards provide tourism organisations and individuals the opportunity to gain an insight into their industry, their business, achieve recognition for their success and promote tourism within their region. One of the main focus points of the awards is to develop quality regional tourism products and provide businesses with the opportunity to benchmark their business with similar businesses in activity and size and also have the opportunity to identify their own personal and professional development within the tourism industry. Winners from each category will now be finalists at the NSW Tourism Awards to be held in Sydney later this year.

Kent & Leanne Sansom, Owners of Oakvale Wildlife Park were excited to accept the award. “It is such an honour for Oakvale to be recognised by the industry with this award.
