Wedge Tailed Eagle

Notes: Australia’s largest bird of prey. With a wingspan of 2.5m and can soar to 2000m.

Length: Male – 900mm / Female – 1000mm

Voice: Commonly silent but can whistle and screech

Food: Rabbits, wallabies, various ground dwelling and swamp birds and reptiles. Also eat a lot of carrion.

<p”>Where Found: Widespread over Australia

Habits: Prefer open ground and spend sunrise and sunset quartering their territory at treetop. Rest of day on high perch or circling

Nesting: Breed June-Nov. Two eggs in large nest of sticks- only one chick survives.
